Video adaptation for new markets and production of corporate and technical videos

A pharmaceutical company launching a product across several European markets produces its videos once and adapts them for each market. A distribution company that creates a television campaign in English needs that campaign in Portuguese and Spanish for the Iberian market. A laboratory that trains its representatives through technical video needs that content to exist in the languages of the markets where it operates. In all these cases, the process is the same: adapt the existing video master for the new context, with the right voice, language and tone.
At Voices & Media Solutions we handle video adaptation for new markets and the production of original videos, with a team that combines experience in voice-over, studio and video post-production.

The sector with the greatest need for video adaptation

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the sectors where video adaptation is most systematic and demanding. A pharmaceutical company operates in multiple markets, each with its own language and specific regulatory requirements for product communication. Video content must be adapted with linguistic and technical rigour, by professionals who understand the sector's terminology.
Types of video we most frequently adapt in the pharmaceutical industry:

  • TV and online campaigns: product adverts for the general public or healthcare professionals, adapted from the original language to Portuguese or other markets. Includes master editing, dubbing or narration and subtitling.
  • Product videos: presentation of medicines, medical devices or supplements, with all the technical and regulatory information required for each market.
  • Technical and scientific videos: mechanism of action content, clinical studies and technical data for healthcare professionals, where language precision is critical.
  • Representative training: internal training videos for medical information representative teams, adapted for each market with the products and messages specific to each country.
  • Content for medical clients: videos aimed at doctors, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, with tone and language suited to the target audience.
  • Pharmaceutical e-learning: online training modules for internal teams, with professional narration and subtitling in the required languages.

How we adapt a video for a new market

Depending on the type of video and the objective, the approach may vary:

Dubbing

Dubbing completely replaces the original voice with native speakers of the destination language, with precise synchronisation with the lip movements of on-screen talent. It is the most complete and natural option for the destination market. For videos with people or characters speaking directly to camera, dubbing is normally the right choice.

Narration

Narration adds a voice-over that translates and adapts the content without completely replacing the original soundtrack. It is more common in technical, scientific or documentary videos where the original audio contains data or demonstrations that complement the narrated text, or in videos where the original production does not include visible on-screen talent.

Subtitling

Subtitling creates and integrates subtitles in the destination language without altering the original audio. It is suitable for digital platforms, for markets where the cultural preference is subtitled video, and for training content where the professional may want to review the text while listening. We deliver in multiple formats: SRT, VTT, burnt into the video or as a separate file.

Master editing

When the video has on-screen text, graphics, regulatory disclaimers or other visual elements that need to be adapted for the new market, we edit the master before any localisation process. In the pharmaceutical industry this is frequent: disclaimers and therapeutic indications vary from country to country and must be updated in each version.

Beyond pharmaceuticals

Video adaptation for new markets is also very common in other sectors:

  • Retail and distribution: advertising campaigns created in one language that need to be adapted for the Iberian market or for other countries where the company operates.
  • Technology and software: product videos, tutorials and technical demonstration content that need to be available in multiple languages for target markets.
  • Education and e-learning: training content created in one language that needs to be accessible to teams in other countries.
  • Tourism and hospitality: promotional and institutional videos for markets with different languages.

From master to final adapted video

  1. Master reception: the client sends the high-quality video with separated tracks, preferably the original editing file or a maximum-resolution export, and the script or transcription of the material to be adapted.
  2. Analysis: our team analyses the video and identifies the elements to adapt: image, voice, on-screen text, graphics and disclaimers.
  3. Translation and adaptation: the script is translated by native translators specialised in the sector, with technical review when necessary.
  4. Voice over or subtitling: recording with native speakers or creation of subtitles according to the defined approach.
  5. Editing and integration: the new voice or subtitles are integrated into the video, with visual element editing if necessary.
  6. Review and delivery: the client reviews and approves; we deliver in the required formats and resolutions.

When it is necessary to start from scratch

For companies that need a technical, institutional or training video created from scratch, we produce original videos with the entire process included: script, voice-over with professional native speakers, post-production and delivery in the required formats.

There is no limit. For multinational projects with several languages simultaneously, we handle coordinated management with a single point of contact. We work with more than 70 languages.

It depends on the duration of the video, the number of languages and the complexity of the editing. For a two to three-minute video with video editing and dubbing in one language, the timeline is normally five to seven working days. For multilingual projects, the timeline is defined in the briefing and managed by our production team.
