Professional audio post-production for voice-over, music and sound effects
A good recording is the starting point. What happens next determines the final audio quality. Editing cleans and organises the recordings. Mixing balances the voice, music and sound effects. Mastering prepares the audio for the destination medium, ensuring it sounds good wherever it is played. At Voices & Media Solutions we handle all three stages with sound engineers specialised in voice-over production and audiovisual content.
The three stages
Editing
Editing is the work of organising and cleaning the recordings. It includes selecting the best takes, removing noise, audible breaths and unnecessary pauses, and rhythm adjustments so the audio flows naturally. For projects with multiple files, editing also includes organising by point of interest, module or section, ready to deliver to the client or integrate into destination systems.
Mixing
Mixing combines the different audio tracks into a coherent result. In a voice-over production, this means balancing the voice with the background music and sound effects, ensuring the voice is always intelligible and the other elements complement it without overpowering it. In radio or television spots, mixing also includes processing the voice with equalisation and compression to achieve the broadcast quality required by broadcasters.
Mastering
Mastering is the final stage before delivery. The mixed audio is processed to achieve the correct volume level, appropriate frequency response and the right dynamics for the destination medium. A radio spot, a podcast episode and an audio guide track all have different technical specifications. Mastering ensures the audio meets those specifications, whatever the medium.

Frequently Asked Questions about Editing, Mixing and Mastering
Can you post-produce recordings made at another studio or home studio?
Yes. We accept recordings made at other studios or from home studios and carry out editing, mixing and mastering. The recordings need to meet a minimum technical standard: adequate microphone, quiet environment and without excessive reverberation. If you have doubts about the quality of the files, you can send a sample before confirming the project.
What is the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing combines multiple audio tracks — voice, music, effects — into a single balanced result. Mastering works on the final mix to adjust the overall volume, equalisation and dynamics, so the audio sounds good on any playback system and meets the specifications of the destination medium. They are two distinct stages, normally carried out in sequence.
In what formats do you deliver the files after post-production?
In any format required: MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, or specific formats required by the broadcaster, platform or destination system. Specifications should be indicated in the initial briefing.
Do you make revisions after delivery?
Yes. For minor adjustments such as level corrections or small mixing changes, we include revisions in the project. For more substantial changes, the cost depends on the volume of work and is agreed on a case-by-case basis.
